There is so much to see and do in the OC - truly something for everyone. We love the outdoors - but we love a concert or a symphony too. Often we combine the two with concerts in the park on summer evenings. There are benefits for the underprivileged, the environment, politics, or schools going on all the time. 'Join in' and you will certainly have a great time and meet some nice people!
Costa Mesa - has grown from a farming community to the most well known venue for the performing arts in Orange County. The Orange County Center for the Performing Arts has two performance halls and is home to the Orange County Philharmonic Society and the Opera Pacific. The center is located on Town Center Drive and is open for free tours Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning at 10:30am. The South Coast Repertory also makes its home in Costa Mesa and is probably best known for the annual feature, A Christmas Carol.
University of California Irvine and Cal State Fullerton - provide rich environments for growing knowledge and encourage awareness and exposure to culture and the arts. Cal State has an enviable schedule of concerts and performances each month. Stevie Nicks performed as the headliner this month at the annual 'front and center' gala.
Laguna Beach - is best known for its annual production of the Pageant of the Masters where art comes to life. The Festival of the Arts, California's premier art exhibition, allows you to meet the artists and purchase their work. We love the Laguna Playhouse, a small theater featuring great performances with talented actors performing a broad spectrum of work. We especially love the Youth Theater and were members every year when JJ was younger.
The Laguna College of Art and Design has wonderful performances (often free). An afternoon of music and art will feature chamber music by the Hutchins Consort the first Sunday of March. Check their website and see what they have coming up that might interest you.
